- software development, in particular large team efforts (>100,000 lines of code) that use agile (XP, Scrum) and test-first development practices
- applied computer science research in collaborative tagging, structured Wikis, and lightweight ontologies
- vision, recruiting, team building, leadership, and management of software development teams
- designing Java code bases for testabilty and mockabilty
- architecing scalable, low-operational-overhead, RESTful Web services
